Andrea Cucchi, our chief tester, has been one of the top Formula windsurfers at the time of the Eurocups. Formula windsurfing has been attacked from the light wind slalom gear and became a discipline for a smaller group of windsurfers. Many brands have decided to stop their formula program, but in Point-7 we love every discipline. The push from the experience of our Black Team and Andrea, has created motivation to develop a total new 9 batten concept for development of the formula project within our brand. Right after Japan I had one week at our HQ on Garda, than I directly flew to Sri Lanka to check the final outcome from our FW1 2015. We had been testing the last protos in Cagliari, Sardinia. One of the best spots for Formula with it’s offshore Mistral winds. Many formula sailors sure remember the spot from the many Eurocup Formula events we had there. The result of the test had been very positive, so we decided to make the last polishing of the sails, and do the final sample before production.

I rigged the sails 12, 11 and 10 at the production facilities, and they looked very nice. Very smooth opening, fast upwind profiles, good cam rotation, clean sleeve. Exactly how we had wished it.
The weight of the 12 is around 8.0kg. All sails have 9 battens. These are the specs:
- 12.0 570Fw1mast +38cm extension | 289 boom
- 11.0 550Fw1mast +24cm extension | 267 boom
- 10.0 520Fw1mast +28cm extension | 245 boom
It’s now from 2011 that I don’t take part at an international event and the plan will be to go to Azores for the Worlds Championship in the beginning of April! The last event I entered, was when I won the Master World Championships in Denmark! I’m now in Tenerife and I’ve brought everything with me to train and let’s see how things will go!
