Vincent Langer: 3 great events

While part of the Black Team was busy at the Defi wind last week and at the PWA in Costa Brava, Vincent Langer GER1 took part at 2 important events.

The Ifca Racing championships on the island of Sylt, and the weekend after again on the another German Island of Nordeney, at the White Sands Festival for the German Championship. Here the report directly from Vincent

It was a busy last month for me. 3 important event right after the other, and I’m so excited to do more. I’m on my new sponsors this year both for sails and boards, and straight from the first event the results have been great. I had a good winter in Tenerife, training with the Point-7 Black Team and now I know why the hard work has been done! From the 28th of May to the 1st of June the IFCA racing Championship took Place on Sylt. There were more than 50 competitors who fought for the official Title of the ” IFCA Racing Champion”. We sailed in 5 days, 11 Formula racing and 7 Slaloms. Every day wind from 7 Knots light wind Formula, to 25 knot of onshore stormy wind with 3 Meters Wave.
I cannot remember to have ever had such a strong physical work out during one single even. We were 5 days non-stop on the water. With the new format of the Racing Championship, there is no limitation on the amount of racing per days. So we sailed till sunset, or the regatta boat crew had no more energy to hold the flags in 3m waves. I won 6 of the 7 slaloms. I’m very happy. The final ranking was the final result of both formula and slalom together and I ended up first, same points with
Sebastian Kornum who won the Formula ranking. This is my second race this year, and after the bronze medal at the IFCA slalom worlds at the Azores 2 weeks ago, I’m now the new and first “Windsurfing Racing Champion 2014”
The third even was the white Sands Festival in Noderney. Home land of my friend Bernd Flessner. This event was also one of the biggest German tour event. More than 50.000 Spectators came to the Island to have parties and watch the Windsurfer and Beach Volleyball. After 3 Slalom and 7 Racing I had to share place number 1, with another good Racer Sebastian Kördel, as again I won the slalom, but gave space to him on the formula. I am anyway super stoked, cause conditions were super difficult and being all the time on the podium it’s a great feeling for this start of the season. My next event will be the PWA in Turkmenistan. Totally excited to be racing with again all the best guys.
