AC-2 | 2 Cam Racing Development Concept

2 Cam Hybrid Race Machine
The wolf in sheep’s clothing. Same body, luff curve, and battens as the AC-1 LTD, but stripped down with a no-cam sleeve above the boom for feather-light handling. Two charged cams below the boom lock in the drive and rail your board for maximum acceleration, but rotations stay smooth and waterstarts effortless. Real race performance without the brutality of a full-blooded race sail.
In 2024 we killed the name AC-Z and rebranded it as AC-2. Why? Because this isn’t some half-baked freerace toy—it’s built on the exact same DNA as the AC-1 LTD. Same body. Same luff curve. Same battens. The only difference? The mast sleeve.
The AC-2 combines the wide XXL race sleeve and cams of the AC-1 LTD below the boom with the stripped-down, no-cam sleeve of the AC-0 above it. The result is a sail that delivers full race performance where it matters—drive, acceleration, and control down low—while keeping the handling light, smooth, and effortless up top. No waterlogging. No heavy uphauls. No brutal rotations. Just speed, stability, and freedom.
Here’s the truth: most 2-cam sails on the market today are outdated. They put a cam over the boom, shrink the sleeve, and pretend to look like a race sail. But in reality, they kill the low-end drive, destabilize the profile, and end up feeling like a sloppy no-cam. At that point, you’d be better off with an AC-0. Or, if you want real race punch, you’d go straight to a 3-cam. That’s why we rebuilt the AC-2 from scratch—because those half-measures don’t cut it.
What makes the AC-2 different? Simple. Both cams sit below the boom. One of them is locked on the lowest batten, guaranteeing that signature racing drive to rail your board, light up your fin, and accelerate through gusts like a weapon. The XXL sleeve under the boom keeps the profile loaded, delivering power and stability exactly where you need it. Meanwhile, the no-cam top half keeps the sail feather-light, balanced, and ridiculously easy in rotations, waterstarts, and in chop.
Are there downsides? Not if you know what you want. If you crave extreme, brutal power and endless pressure on the fin—go 3-cam or full AC-1 LTD. But if you want a sail that gives you race performance without the punishment, the AC-2 is your answer. It’s for riders who want to push hard, plane early, stay in control through gusts, and sail longer without burning out. If you hate the weight, waterlogging, and violent rotation of traditional cam sails, the AC-2 wipes those excuses off the map.
Why only 2 cams? Because the third cam over the boom adds nothing but weight and resistance. We tested it, and cut it. The AC-2 delivers what matters: full racing performance with no-cam simplicity where you need it most.
The details?
- No extreme batten tension needed—keep it light for smooth rotation.
- One-piece luff panel from head to tack.
- Kevlar reinforcement lines to lock stability.
- Top X-ply panel to seal the profile under load.
This isn’t just another “easy cam sail.” It’s a race-bred machine disguised as a 2-cam. Built for windsurfers who demand speed, acceleration, and stability—but without the hassle. The AC-2 puts you in control, keeps you fresh, and still delivers a performance level that feels dangerously close to the AC-1 LTD.
