AC-1 PRO 025 | The Development Concept
In the past, there use to be the full race sail and a freeride sail with 3 cams as easier race sail.
From 2024 in Point-7 we ralized that once people decide to have 3 cams, their only target is to go fast. Therefore we decided to push our AC-1 racing sail to the max development possible, and from that have an easier version for those who are not looking to compete at the highest level of PWA Slalom X only.
A pro rider needs a power in a sail that needs amazing fitness, but would get most windsurfers exhausted after few runs.
There was not really a proper easier race sail for everyone and every weight. Still the race sail was the most developed sail from the top riders, as it’s always their main interest to work on the sail that they will use on the racecourse. Yes, they search for lots of power, but they also seek for comfort to be able to focus on the skills and tactics on the course. Hence, the race sails have always been the best sail to cruise, but just with way too much power in the handling, that if not fit in terms of technique and physical strength, it would have not brought any performance advantage to most riders. This is why we created 2 racing models: The AC-1 to fit 95% of the windsurfer who want to race for fun on a weekend, at longdistance racing or just blasting. The AC-1 LTD for those who just want to blame theirselves for not winning.
The result has been outstanding as most of our riders when testing the 2 sails are getting super confused. They realize the easy handling and light feel of the AC-1 giving advantage in a lot of specific cases, but enjoy the easy supercharge power of the AC-1 LTD.
The drive the power, mainly comes from the width of the mast sleeve. The wider the sleeve, the more power on the front. This front power pushes down the board, but at the same time pulls forward and allows the rider to contrast this power more to the back of the board by pressing on the fin for max lift. By reducing just, the sleeve by 23% we realized that the power dropped to a pleasant power to handle for most slalom riders looking for high performance, made the sail feel light and easy in all directions also on the racecourse, and not only for blasting with a Gps or against local friends.
Therefore, yes! The only difference is the width of the mast sleeve. That is what makes the huge difference. All the rest is exactly the same between the AC-1 and the AC-1 LTD!
There are not many sizes in the range due to the huge wide wind range the sail are able to plane in light wind, and handle in stronger winds.
There is no need for bigger sizes then 8.8 as the sail offers an amazing pull at the first chance of planing gust.
