ITS CHARACTER

The sail is a powerful toy, with fast acceleration to allow moves in shorter spaces, power in lighter winds and higher stability in stronger winds.  Lots of Pop! Stability all around its structure. In a double move sequence, it will not limit the power to the first move. Very pleasant to cruise and to get close to the freestyle world!

WHATS NEW FOR 2020

A total new outline has been introduced to the new SLASH. Now the 3.6 and 4.0 rigs on 370. The other sails keep using the same mast even though the outline is new. Having gone more on a smaller head for faster rotation and a slightly different base and boom length to give a more balanced power. Certainly, another step forward for the World Champion and EFPT winner sail!

ON THE WATER

Super light in the hands with good power on the front hand to make you feel the extreme acceleration in no space. It delivers an exact profile spot to rely on and exercise all the moves around. It will allow to have power even to finish the second move. You will not need to use your own power and extra skill to finish the move. Easy and comfortable in all the conditions to allow the focus only on the best way to stand out! The new outline high aspect outline on the top increases it’s spinning speed, and the slightly wider base it’s power.

DEVELOPED AND DESIGNED BY

The Point-7 Black Team. A team of professional sailors and designers who have proved themselves by designing the winning sail for the World Champion in the PWA Slalom World Tour. Now with their pro Freestylers Team, such as Taty Frans, Jacopo Testa, PWA world champion Yentel Caers, the Slash is continually under pressure to its development.

DEVELOPMENT TARGET

No gimmicks have been invented or stitched onto the sail. The team requested the most functional freestyle sail possible with a slashed down weight to have no restraints for pulling the fastest and highest double moves.

RIGGING

The Slash is straightforward to rig, requiring an easy amount of force to counter its luff curve to set the rotation of the profile according to each freestyler needs. Playing with the outhaul will boost up power or increase control but do give good outhaul tension until you you’re your perfect performance. Tighten the bottom and top batten, but just remove wrinkles on the other battens, without over tensioning them.

RIDER DEVELOPER COMMENT

The team was stoked about the performance of the new Slash and especially the continues power it delivers when it enters the second move in the combo! The sail makes freestyle much more fun, because the combination from great control combined with power in the right position, makes the sail perfect for all kind of moves from old school to all the newest moves. We really looked to make the sail to perform in every condition, because I like to switch up between flat water freestyle, choppy conditions are even freestyle in the waves. Freestyle is getting more extreme.

SLASH

SLASH

An important rotation lets the batten sit in front of the mast on the lower part of the mast sleeve – giving lift as the wind enters, thanks also to the Dacron panel. This concept brings in the extra power in the front of the sail. A main concept, to have more power in light winds, dragster acceleration, and tons of pop. Moving behind the mast panel area the profile of the sail is totally flat, and the straight profile in the top of the sail combined with a tight leech allows for super easy ducking of the sail and back winded tricks.

A reduced head outline shape allows fast rotation & light feeling. A tight leech allows easy clew first stance and back winded tricks.

A short-balanced boom length, wider base and high foot satisfy the needs of our riders to control the sail without having excess outline in the way. One ring to save weight, placed in at the perfect height, for correct balance to the tension the leach, and easy ducking.

Straight profiled four-batten construction to save weight, and with no profile along the top 3, allowing the sail to be ducked with simplicity.

Wider base to increase power. High and straight foot to satisfy better ducking.

A large Dacron panel creates earlier planing and more pop in the sail.

Anti-UV transparent grey window to have a 100% Anti UV-Monofilm sail. All our Ply, X-ply and Scrims monofilm are produced in the Unites States.

X-ply alternate batten pockets for lighter weight and reflex.

5mil Anti UV- X-ply base panel for protection from accidents.

4mil Anti UV X-ply laminate for high reactivity.
