The defending British Champion, James Dinsmore, started the 2017 UKWA British Slalom Championships well by winning the first counting round at Hayling Island over the weekend. It was his first competitive outing on his AC-1s, having moved over to Point 7 earlier this year. James had this to say:
[mk_blockquote style=”line-style” font_family=”none” text_size=”12″ align=”left”]It was a long and frustrating day on the water on Saturday with the wind hovering just below the minimum wind limit for most of it and we only completed three heats. My heat took three attempts. However, on Sunday there was a decent breeze and we completed three eliminations. As the day went on the tide came in and the course became increasingly choppy. Lucky for me I live on Hayling and am used to the conditions and could make use of this home advantage to win all three finals. I managed to get good starts from the pin end in all three finals and although it was a bit tight I led to the first mark in all three. I was on my 9.2 for the first two were before changing to my 8.6 for the last. I used a Starboard iS137 all day. I’m looking forward to the next stop for the British tour which will be in Christchurch in late June
